Ladies Beach Cruiser in Pearl Blue - "Azule"

Ladies Beach Cruiser in Pearl Blue - "Azule"

This bike is for my good Pal Aaron's girlfriend, Rachel. This bike has to somehow make it's way to Brisbane when completed. Hopefully they will visit and stay the night with us and take it home again. We can only hope!

Step 1. Procure the bike and required parts.
Items I have for this build:
Fenders for front and rear (but no fender braces)
Frame - Ladies Beach Cruiser
Saddle - Soft sprung beach cruiser saddle
Headset and stem
Handlebars
Front and Rear Wheels and tyres with tubes
Crank and bottom end bearing set
Chain
Pedals
Forks
Rear Derailer
Pearl Blue concentrate

Pearl Blue clear top coat
Clear coat

Parts I need to acquire:
Fender Braces
Some nuts and bolts

Step 2. The current paint on the bike is in as new condition. I will etch with some Scotch Bright and then apply my Etch Primer and base coat. Will post pictures after this coming weekend.

I have completed the etch prime and the coats of Pearl on this bike. This one really shines!!!! and the pearl really shimmers. I am really pleased with the result.

Step 3. Apply Clear Coat over the pearl blue. Once this has dried and cured, a sand and polish will bring this out nicely :-)

Clear coat complete on all parts of this bike.

Step 4. 1200 grit sand to get rid of orange peel and then buff to give the high gloss glassy finish.

I attempted to do the frame of this bike tonight but after doing the purple BMX frame, my sanding arm (right arm) has had enough and wants a divorce LOL. Here is a progress pic of the top down tube. You can see how it is smooth and glossy rather than the rest of the bike that is rough and not as shiny. I will complete the fram and some other parts on Wednesday night.

I have now sanded and polished the rest of the parts (see video). See next step, assembly.

Step 5.

Assembly!!!! Part 1, It is now 22:25 and I am knackered!!!

I got up early this morning and started to assemble the rest of this bike. Lunch time has just finished and I took some photos in the sun. She is looking AMAZING! I just have the cables and sheathes to get for the rear brakes and derailer but for the most part she is complete :-)
